MATTHEWS AVE. APARTMENT FIRE INJURES THREE

By Jennifer Procario

Local firefighters rushed to the scene of an Allerton six-story apartment building last week after a fire broke out in a fourth floor apartment and left three people injured.

On Thursday, January 3, the one-alarm fire broke out at 2765 Matthews Avenue shortly before 3 p.m. and blazed for 35 minutes before firefighters could control the flames.

Three people were injured including two civilians and one firefighter, an FDNY spokesman said. Luckily, two suffered minor injuries while one was in serious but stable condition, he said.
