After its teams played in tournaments around the country during the holidays, the CHSAA league season will kick into gear Friday. And what a way to do so. The last two winners of the CHSAA Class AA intersectional title will meet in Middle Village Friday at 7:30 p.m. A loss would drop Christ the King to 0-2 in the league after a thrilling overtime defeat at St. Raymond's Dec. 14. Rice is red hot, having won all seven of its games this year, including a victory at the Iolani Classic in Hawaii. The Raiders are led by seniors Chris Fouch, who is going to Drexel next year and UConn-bound Kemba Walker, as well as rising junior Durand Scott, who is being recruited by Arizona, UConn, Pittsburgh and Xavier. They've clearly not missed Louisville-bound Lamont Jones, who transfered to American Christian, a Pennsylvania prep school.Christ the King has Erving Walker, one of the top seniors in the city, who will play at Florida next year, and George Mason-bound Ryan Pearson. But the Royals (5-2) lost the opener of the Bay Ball Classic in Delaware before rebounding in the consolation game. Also on Friday, Molloy heads to St. Raymond's at 7:30 p.m. and Holy Cross is at St. Francis Prep at 7:30 p.m.
