LaGuardia Community College will host three events sponsored by the college’s adult and continuing education program.
On Thursday, January 24, the New York City Sales and Service Training Partnership, in conjunction with LaGuardia Community College’s Workforce1 Career Center, is holding a free workshop for those interested in a career in retail.
The workshop will provide information on training opportunities as well as a picture of the potential job growth in such areas as sales, accounting, marketing and management.
Participants will learn how to become certified in the customer service industry and how the earned income tax credit can boost income. The workshop will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the college’s C-building (room C-400), located at 29-10 Thomson Avenue in Long Island City. The deadline for registration is January 23. On Tuesday, January 29, LaGuardia Community College’s Workforce1 Career Center is holding on-site job interviews in which the Association for the Help of Retarded Children will be interviewing for substitute and residential habilitation counselors.
The interviews will be conducted from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Those who wish to apply are asked to come in to the college’s C-building (room C-400) at 29-10 Thomson Avenue at 9:30 a.m. for registration. For more information or to register, call 718-609-2122.
On Wednesday, January 30, LaGuardia will offer a free college prep workshop to show prospective college students how to complete the Common Application, which is accepted by more than 300 colleges in the United States.
The two-hour session, which begins at 6 p.m., will be held in the college’s main building at 31-10 Thomson Avenue. Those who are interested in attending the free workshop must register. For more information, or to register, call 718-482-7244.
