Harmony Hearing & Speech Center

About 40 years ago a little girl moved into Howard Beach to begin a new life with her family. Her dad was an electrical engineer and her mom raised her and her older brother and younger sister.
The little girl grew up to become an audiologist. Her dream was to help people of all ages have a better quality of life by helping them to hear better. She worked very hard, and, with the help of her father Alexander, she opened the doors to Harmony Hearing Center in 1988, which was located in Lindenwood for 17 years. Now this audiologist, Carol Letzter, had a dream of providing caring and competent help for her patients. Her goal was to provide a center in which her patients could feel comfortable and relaxed and know that they were being treated with only their best interests in mind.
Carol Letzter has provided a warm environment where patients of all ages can receive a variety of audiological services, including complete hearing tests, the fitting of hearing aids, swim plugs, noise plugs, auditory training and central auditory processing testing.
In 1998, Letzter decided to pursue a second Master’s Degree and became a Licensed Speech Language Pathologist. With her dual certification, she was now able to provide patients of all ages with a variety of services to assist them in improving speech, language, cognition and oral feeding and swallowing problems. The Center formally changed its name to Harmony Hearing & Speech Center.
In 2001, Letzter furthered her education and received her Doctorate of Audiology Degree. Although she now holds the title of “Doctor,” she prefers that her patients feel at ease and continue to call her “Carol.” In 2004, the Center moved to larger quarters and is now located in the beautiful Rockwood Park section of Howard Beach. Patients of all ages enjoy the beautiful decorations that are displayed for every holiday at the Center, located at 161-24 84th Street.
Harmony Hearing & Speech Center has grown in size in order to provide patients with the best quality of service. But Letzter and her staff have remained humble and caring and continue to have only the best concerns for each and every one of their patients. One patient has commented that she remembers when the Center first opened its doors and she couldn’t get a cab to take her home. Letzter personally drove her home. And 20 years later, she could not grab a cab again and Letzter again drover her home because she is as down to earth now as she was then.
Letzter hopes that you will join her in celebrating 20 years in business. She wishes to continue to have the pleasure and joy of serving such wonderful people in the community. She thanks you all whole-heartedly for having the confidence and loyalty you have shown her and she looks forward to taking care of all of your hearing and speech needs in the future.
