Do you sometimes want to send your children to the moon?
Well, now you can. From February 18 to 22, the Cradle of Aviation Museum in Garden City will offer numerous family activities focusing on space exploration and hands-on experiences for children, who will be able to build their own spacecrafts.
Going through the museum’s eight galleries - encompassing over 100 years of aviation and astronautics - visitors will learn about the vital role that Long Island has played in the development and operation of airplanes and space ships.
Guests of the Cradle of Aviation will have the chance to combine a museum experience - learning about NASA’s plans to go to the moon again and possibly travel to Mars - with a movie at the state-of-the-art 300-seat IMAX Dome Theater, or enjoy a snack at the Red Planet Caf/, which represents a Mars space station.
“The museum staff has put together an exciting week of activities that we hope families will enjoy,” Todd Richman, chair of the board of the Cradle of Aviation, said.
The Space Exploration Week at the Cradle of Aviation will run from February 18 to 22. For more information and directions, call 516-572-4011 or visit www.cradleofaviation.org.
