PSAL ‘AA’ boys’ hoops playoffs: Bayside falls; Edison, Forest Hills move into first round

Julius Wells had 24 points and Evan Eisner and Davon Brown both had 16 points apiece for the No. 20 Bayside boys’ basketball team in a 77-76 outbracket PSAL Class AA playoff loss Tuesday against No. 13 Thurgood Marshall in Manhattan.

The Commodores, who were down by 15 points at halftime, also got 12 points and 15 rebounds from Dakota Stabile.

Forest Hills 52, Monroe 50. Alex Hall had 14 points and Terry Harrison had 11 in No. 14 Forest Hills' outbracket victory at home against No. 19 Monroe on Tuesday.

The Rangers will travel to No. 3 Wadleigh next Tuesday for a first-round game.

Robeson 75, Long Island City 60. Konstantin Kapelonis had 19 points, Joshua Gray had 16 points and Aziz Raji added 10 for No. 24 LIC in an outbracket loss to No. 9 Robeson on Tuesday in Brooklyn.

In other PSAL Class AA outbracket games, Edison (11) defeated Truman (22) and Frederick Douglass Academy (15) beat Martin Van Buren (18). Edison travels to No. 6 Curtis on March 5 for a first-round game.

No. 5 Cardozo will host No. 12 Canarsie and No. 7 Campus Magnet will host No. 10 Wings Academy in first-round games March 5.
