Christ the King made the 90-minute drive down the New Jersey Turnpike for the Primetime Shootout and easily dispatched Trenton Central, 64-47, Sunday afternoon at the Sovereign Bank Arena.Both teams came out sluggish, but the Royals, coming off a win at Holy Cross Friday night, were just too big, too fast and too talented for the Tornadoes. “It was an annoying game,” CK coach Bob Oliva said. “They were tough, aggressive and scrappy.”George Mason-bound senior forward Ryan Pearson led Christ the King with 23 points and 12 rebounds, while Erving Walker, playing in front of future college coach Billy Donovan of Florida, added 13 points.”It was more or less a showcase for Erv and Ryan,” Oliva said. “It wasn't a very good game. If I was paying $16, I would want my money back.”The contest was decided early Ð very early. The score was tied at 8 with 57.1 seconds left in the first quarter before the Royals went on a 24-3 run. Pearson had 10 points in the surge.”That wasn't one of our better wins,” Walker said.Erv snubbed?: Rice point guard Kemba Walker will be headed to Milwaukee in March for the McDonald's All-American game while Erving Walker (no relation), widely regarded as one of the best players in New York City, wasn't chosen for the team. Erving Walker and Sylven Landesberg, the Holy Cross standout, were nominated as McDonald's All-Americans.
