Bronx District Attorney Detective Investigators found a decomposed body in the trunk of a stolen car in Throggs Neck on Wednesday, January 20, during a routine auto crime patrol.
Detective Investigators Lawrence Hinrichs and Anthony Rambazis were driving down Edison Avenue searching for stolen cars with a high tech electronic device when they got a hit off a Lincoln Town Car parked in front of 634 Edison Avenue.
The hit immediately triggered an alert from the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles Data Bank, which showed the vehicle had been reported stolen in Washington Heights on October 15, 2007.
The license plates were also inked to a missing persons report that was on file with the NYPD.
Upon approaching the vehicle, Hinrichs and Rambazis noticed a strong odor and immediately notified the 45th Precinct.
