Captain William McSorley of the 45th Precinct painted a vastly different picture of the crime situation for the precinct during a recent meeting of the 45th Precinct Community Council on Thursday, March 13.
According to McSorley, arrests in the month of February were up by 44% in the precinct, and overall crime was down by about 5%, as opposed to the same 28-day period as last year.
This good news followed worries about the precinct when it got off to a rocky start in 2008, showing a spike in burglary and robbery for January.
