Any team that is, but top-seeded Murry Bergtraum.”There isn't another team in the city that we wouldn't play with,” Eisenberg said, “except the No. 2 team in America.”Unfortunately for Eisenberg, that's just who the eighth-seeded Patriots drew Saturday. And for the eighth time in the past nine years, mighty Murry Bergtraum ended Francis Lewis' season, cruising to a 75-25 victory. The lesson to be learned, according to Eisenberg, isn't in the lopsided result. Instead, the message he gave his team was to try and do as well as possible during the regular season to avoid Bergtraum as long as possible in the citywide playoffs.”We beat Jefferson, who was probably the team that looked the best today outside of Bergtraum,” Eisenberg said. “That's why you win as many games as you can in the regular season, because even if you get Bergtraum as (the No. 4 seed), you get to play another round.”While beating Bergtraum, the No. 2 ranked team in the country according to USA Today, was nary impossible for the Patriots, it became a moot point when they fell behind 10-0 from the opening tip. From there it just got uglier for Francis Lewis. Vying for their 10th straight PSAL crown, Bergtraum led 21-7 at the end of the first quarter and 42-12 at the half.”We worked hard all week, it just didn't work out the way we expected,” said Francis Lewis senior Sylvia Davis, the team's leading scorer with nine points. “We waited too long to play. We've got to start playing from jump.”Jamaica native Shanee Williams scored a game-high 16 points, Shukurah Washington added 14, Krystal Parnell had 11 and Shakeya Leary had 10 for Bergtraum, which advances to face fourth-seeded John F. Kennedy in the semifinals.Reach Sports Editor Dylan Butler by e-mail at news@TimesLedger.com or call 718-229-0300, Ext. 143.
