Despite a majority of Haight Avenue residents who are overjoyed by the melodious morning sounds of songbirds from a nearby nest, at least one neighbor feels their presence is nothing to sing about.
Parakeets, parrots, crows, and other types of feathered creatures have taken refuge on the block in question, near the corner of Haight and Morris Park avenues.
The nest, located on a utility pole between 1818 and 1820 Haight Avenue, now is a large, circular twine of twigs.
While many on the block consider the nest a blessing, a Haight Avenue resident who has declined to be named, sees it as a curse, stating that the presence of so many birds poses a health risk to the community because of droppings.
