Sister of wife indicted in husband slay arraigned

The older sister of Dr. Mazoltuv Borukhova — indicted for conspiring to kill her estranged husband, Dr. Daniel Malakov, who was gunned down execution-style last October adjacent to a Forest Hills playground — has been arraigned on charges of intimidating and tampering with a witness in that case.
Natella Natanova, 39, of 65-10 108th Street in Rego Park faces charges of third-degree intimidating a victim or witness and third-degree tampering with a witness.
Bail was set at $150,000 and the case was adjourned to Friday, March 7.
If convicted, she faces up to four years in prison.
According to the criminal charges, Natanova approached the murder victim’s brother, Gaviril Malakov, at the intersection of 108th Street and 65th Avenue at about 9:50 a.m. on March 3 and said to him, “You should know if you talk, you will be the next to go.”
Malakov immediately reported the alleged intimidation to authorities and the defendant was arrested by detectives assigned to the 112th Precinct’s Detective Squad.
Dr. Mazoltuv Borukhova, 34, of 65-10 108th Avenue in Forest Hills, and her uncle by marriage, Mikhail Mallayev, 50, of 3016 Henderson Mills Road in Atlanta, Georgia, were indicted last month by a Queens County grand jury on charges of first-degree murder, second-degree murder (intentional) and second-degree conspiracy for allegedly conspiring to kill Malakov.
The defendants, who each face life in prison without parole if convicted, were ordered held without bail. Borukova is scheduled to appear in Queens Supreme Court on April 21.
Borukhova and Mallayev allegedly had upward of 90 conversations with each other in the weeks prior to the murder, during which they came to an agreement that Mallayev would kill Daniel Malakov in exchange for a sum of money.
In carrying out their alleged conspiracy, it is charged that Borukova arranged for Malakov to meet her on the morning of Sunday, October 28, 2007, in the Annadale Playground so that he could deliver their daughter for a visit with her. Malakov had won custody of the child after a bitter court battle.
It is alleged that also present near the location that morning was Mallayev, who utilized a gun to which was attached a makeshift silencer to shoot Malakov twice in the chest.
