A violent argument over broken hearts at the Sheepshead Nostrand Houses ended with a double murder Tuesday, area cops said this week. As this paper went to press, officials said that the 36-year-old former resident of the housing project – whose name has yet to be released — is facing two murder charges and life in prison following the bloody stabbing on the morning of April 1. Officials said that the assailant came to the apartment, located inside 3043 Avenue X, to visit his former girlfriend, age 47. Police said that the suspect had once lived at the apartment with the woman, but had moved out when things went south between them. When he showed up for a visit Tuesday, he was surprised to see his former love with a longtime friend, age 25, according to published reports. Cops said that it was unclear if he had found the couple in bed together – as some reports have claimed – or if they were merely in the apartment together when he came by. Either way, the suspect snapped, pulled a knife and attacked, stabbing both victims repeatedly. When cops arrived at the scene, both couples were suffering from multiple stab wounds. The woman died at the scene. The male victim was taken to an area hospital, where he was initially listed in critical condition. By Tuesday evening, he had died of his wounds, officials said. Their goateed attacker, found “out of it” with his shirt off, was seen rolling away to an area hospital for observation. Tuesday’s slayings mark the first and second murders to take place in the 61st Precinct this year. The 61st Precinct protects residents in Sheepshead Bay, Manhattan Beach, Gravesend and parts of Midwood. While investigators believe that he will be facing two counts of murder, no charges have been filed as this paper went to press.
