Jalil Hakimi was the rally starter, going 1-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored to lead Covanta to a 6-3 victory against Stone Engineering at Fort Totten Saturday.
Anthony Chiodi started the game on the mound and Daniel Griffin came in and closed throwing just 24 pitches in the final two innings. He also added one RBI and two stolen bases. Covanta takes a 6-3 record into a critical game with VIPizza scheduled for Tuesday.
Major Division
Pilling Real Estate 7, Kramer Service Station 3. Anthony Albasini pitched four strong innings and Hector Gonzalez hit a tremendous two-run homer to lead Pilling Real Estate to victory. Alex Centrone, Danny Mirbach, and Max Lomuscio provided strong defense. Kramer Service Station had a strong pitching performance by Matt Kramer and Eduardo Mamut had a great day at the plate.
Pilling Real Estate 2, Office Furniture.net 1. Pilling Real Estate prevailed in a battle of first-place teams. Hector Gonzalez and Liam Higgins pitched a great game for Pilling Real Estate, which improved to 7-1 on the season. Key hits were provided by Anthony Albasini, Dylan Chateau, and Hector Gonzalez. Office Furniture had an excellent pitching effort by James Callahan and Anthony Tersigini. Nicky Stamoulis reached base three times and Sean Cunningham shined defensively.
Texas Division
FY Lifestyle 10, Hartsko Financial Services 7. Great defense and timely hitting were the keys in FY Lifestyle's first win of the year. Andrew DiPerri set the tone for the team with a fine pitching performance and Tommy Venture followed with a strong inning of work as well for FY Lifestyle, which was able to throw out a Hartsko runner at home plate killing a potential rally.
Thomas Cercena keyed several of FY Lifestyle's offensive rallies, while Brandon Lin went 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI.
Keller Williams Realty 9, Tiger Schulmann 7. Ally Santoro broke the 2-all tie with a two-run double, ILia Loukissas and Bradley Pincus helped with great catches and Christian Cardenas finished the game with a two-inning save for Keller Williams Realty.
Novius Group vs. Hartsko Financial Services. Issac Mun held Novius Group to two runs through the fourth inning and Michael Petillo did great to close. Cory Calamusso was Hartskos' big bat, going 4-for-4 with a first-inning home run.
In the top of fifth, Novius picked up the pace and took the lead. Christopher Chiodi led the way, going 4-for-4 while pitchers Anthony Costa, Patrick Rivera, Chris Riba and Chris Chiodi held Hartsko in check.
