The Queens Council on the Arts’ (QCA) High School to Art School Portfolio Development Program (HS2AS) is ready for summer session, thanks to a $7,500 grant from the Aviation Development Council.
HS2AS provides portfolio development assistance, art technique workshops, financial aid planning, and other services to high school juniors and seniors in the city who want to create visual portfolios for their art school and college applications, free of charge.
“High School to Art School is an opportunity for city high school students to gain the experience necessary for admission to the top art schools in the country,” said Lisa M. Gutting, QCA’s Arts Education Director.
Prospective students must interview at the Queens Museum of Art on Saturday, June 21, between noon and 5 p.m. They are asked to bring, along with a completed application, five drawings from observations. If a student cannot interview on that day, other arrangements can be made.
