Legislators should form union

After hearing our state legislators' crying and complaining about the failure to receive a raise from wealthy state taxpayers, I have devised a solution to this problem facing those who go to Albany and claim to represent us.

They should form a union and elect United Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten as its president. If the public will not give these overworked and underpaid state Assembly members and state senators a raise, they should strike.

Of course, state citizens will have to suffer without having to pay money from their pockets every paycheck. They will continue to suffer when their real estate taxes will not be increased every 12 months and cry when they realize that their children will not have to pick up the debt burden that faces state taxpayers.

The Brennan Commission said that our state Legislature is “the most dysfunctional in the country.”

No legislature, no dysfunction.
