Bachelor and U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-Forest Hills) wants more beautiful women to enter the country.
Weiner is the sponsor of a House bill, amended on June 5, that would change the visa designation for fashion models to create 1,000 new slots.
The congressman could not immediately be reached for comment.
Fashion models currently need to apply for H1-B visas, a group where they compete with highly skilled workers.
Models who obtained H1-B visas declined from 467 in fiscal year 2005 to 349 in fiscal year 2007, according to a statement accompanying Weiner's bill that explains the need for the legislation.
