Crowley helps Sunnyside fight crime

Congressmember Joseph Crowley and Councilmember Eric Gioia joined with local business and community leaders to celebrate the allocation of $15,000 in federal anti-crime funds for the Sunnyside Chamber of Commerce.
Since 2003, Crowley has secured more than $89,000 to support the Chamber’s community safety initiatives.
“Keeping our community safe and secure is my top priority,” Crowley said. The Sunnyside Chamber of Commerce works with businesses to prevent crime in the neighborhood. Some of the funding has gone towards installing camera surveillance near businesses as well as other anti-crime initiatives.
“By working together, we have helped to reduce crime and ensure that Sunnyside remains a family-friendly neighborhood,” Crowley said. “There is no doubt we will continue our joint effort to ensure the safety of our community.”
