The Metropolitan Transportation Authority has proposed a fare increase of 13 percent and a toll increase. This is highway robbery.
This will be two years in a row that this is being done. We are in a recession and the poor and middle classes will be hurt the most. In this case, all we can do as commuters is demand all MTA officers be held accountable for trying to fleece the public.
One person I would like hold accountable is MTA Executive Director Elliot Sander and have him explain to me and all New Yorkers that everything is being done to eliminate waste and mismanagement.
Then and only then should a fare increase be proposed. To the MTA I say, “Go back to the drawing board.”
