The Broad Channel library, which celebrated and showcased its new renovations on July 30, features redone Children’s and Adult Reading areas, a Community Meeting Room, and a brand new area dedicated to teens. The project, which was funded by both Assemblymember Audrey Pheffer and Councilmember Joseph Addabbo, also includes the addition of RFID self check-out technology. The new technology allows customers to check out items on their own, drastically cutting the time spent waiting in line, while allowing library staff more time on the floor to address customer questions. The updated facility is also more aesthetically inviting, with new flooring, lighting and furniture. Also added were two more public access computers and a new 42-inch plasma TV for Library Programming and DVD playing.
