On Friday, July 25, New York State Senator John Sabini met with students and teachers of the International Dyslexia Association (IDA), which runs a program at Garden School in Jackson Heights, to observe the progress of the program.
The visit follows the provision of a $2,000 New York State grant to the IDA to be used for the dyslexia program at Garden School, located on 33-16 79th Street. The program received the grant in early July, said Steven Stites, communications director in Sabini’s office.
“The senator provides grants for many non-profits that make great contributions to the community, such as the IDA,” Stites explained.
Dyslexia is a learning disability that impairs word recognition.
