Although Christ the King (3-2) defeated Bishop Ford (1-3) 26-20 last Saturday at Victory Field in Forest Park, it seemed like CTK had the game under control from the very beginning.
In the first quarter, the Royals’ sophomore sensation Terrell Hunt broke out for a 38-yard touchdown run for the first score of the game. Bishop Ford returned the favor with a short run up the middle by running back Tim Wade.
In the second quarter, Hunt fired a 69-yard pass to Peter Nwajei. Junior running back William Hunter followed with a 19-yard touchdown run to make the score 20-6. The Falcons refused to go down quietly as Christian McMillen gathered in a touchdown reception from senior quarterback David Johnson.
After halftime, Bishop Ford drove the field to score and tie the game with a two-point conversion but once again, Terrell Hunt put the Royals on his back and scored his second rushing touchdown of the day for the decisive points. Hunt finished the day with 220 yards total offense and 3 touchdowns.
CTK’s Peter Nwajei also added a key interception late in the game to seal the victory.
Next week the Royals will head to the Bronx to face the Cardinal Spellman Falcons while Bishop Ford will stay at home in Brooklyn against the St. Peter’s Eagles.
