Commerce customers to choose lollipop

While many have their eyes on the November 4 Presidential Election, another election will take place a few days before as customers of TD Bank, who recently acquired Commerce Bank, choose what color lollipop will represent the new bank.
The race, which is being billed as “Decision ’08: Pick Your Pop,” will feature Green and Purple lollipop candidates and is already creating a buzz as the bank has held rallies for the two candidates in New York City and others are planned before the voting ends on October 30.
“We thought it would be a great idea as we become TD Bank to have them [customers] help us choose,” said Rebecca Acevedo, a spokesperson for Commerce Bank.
In March of this year, TD Bank Financial Group acquired Commerce Bank and it is merging it with the operations of TD Banknorth under the new name - TD Bank, “America’s Most Convenient Bank.”
Acevedo explained that the idea for Decision ’08: Pick Your Pop,” came out after focus group research determined that some of the services Commerce customers cared about most were the bank’s hours, Penny Arcade and the lollipops.
“It’s important [for us] to let people know that even though we are changing names, we are still “America’s Most Convenient Bank.”
In addition to the campaign rallies, customers can view information about the candidates at www.commerceonline.com/pickyourpop. At that site, voters can choose their candidate and submit their color choice. People can vote until 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, October 30, and the bank will announce the winning lollipop at a special event at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 31, in Cherry Hill, N.J.
