They emerged shirtless, out of a storm sewer drain. But Michelangelo, Leonardo, Raphael or Donatello they were not.
The three teens hoisted from the 12-foot-wide sewer at Fresh Meadow Lane and Underhill Avenue on Wednesday, October 15 did not suffer any injuries. The male trio - a 16-year-old from Hollis, a 17-year-old from Bellaire, and a 15-year-old - were playing “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” according to reports, when they got lost. Two were charged with criminal trespassing; the third was released to his parents.
“They were curious,” said Flushing resident and urban planner Paul Graziano. In 2001, Graziano was the Green Party candidate for City Council, proposing the restoration of Kissena Creek from a natural spring at the Kissena Park Golf Course, westward towards the Queens Botanical Garden.
