Golden Krust thinks pink for good cause

All this month, Jamaican patties from the Bronx-based Golden Krust Bakery and Grill chain will be pretty in pink for a serious cause: the fight against breast cancer.
To support the National Breast Cancer Foundation, the eatery’s patties will be wrapped in pink packaging with specially made patty boxes and paper wrappers with crimson bows for its “Eat for the Cause” initiative.
In addition to the visual reminders, the 19-year-old chain will donate a portion of its chicken patty sales to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. The specially wrapped patties will be sold at Golden Krust stores nationwide from January 1-31.

The market is up
Despite economic woes worldwide, registrations are up for the Caribbean Marketplace 2009 conference, sponsored by the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association.
Association officials said registrations for buyer and supplier delegates have increased 6 percent over the same period last year. They said close to 1,000 delegates have signed up so far for the confab, which will be held Jan. 18-20 in Gros Islet, St. Lucia, in conjunction with the St. Lucia Hotel and Tourism Association and the St. Lucia Tourist Board.
Buyers and suppliers of travel-related services and goods will meet at the event, which boasts a special initiative to plan for buyer-to-seller sessions via computerized appointments. For information on the conference, visit www.caribbeanhotelandtourism.com.
