    “Voices and Instruments of the World” will be held at the
    Flushing Library at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 4. The concert will feature singers and musicians representing Argentina, China,
    the Mediterranean/Middle East and Sri Lanka.

    McCollough Sons of Thunder will perform a concert at the Central Library at 3 p.m. on Sunday, January 4. The group will “bring inspirational Gospel music to a higher level with their energized brass shout band who mix call-and-response with brass and percussion.” The Central Library is located at 89-11 Merrick Boulevard in Jamaica.     On Saturday, January 10 at 1 p.m., “Latitude Attitudes: Cultural Behavior from Around the World” will take place at the Flushing Library. Speakers from various regions across the globe “will examine cultural behavior from around the world.”

    Richard O’Connor, M.S.W., Ph.D., will talk about his book “Happy at Last: The Thinking Person’s Guide to Finding Joy” at the North Forest Park Library at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 10. Books will be for sale and available for signing. The North Forest Park Library is located at 98-27 Metropolitan Avenue in Forest Hills and can be reached by calling 718-261-5512.

    Ron Marzlock, the author of “The New York World’s Fairs,” will be at the Poppenhusen Library at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 10. The book provides “a colorful photographic journey into the history behind the 1939 and 1964 World’s Fairs in
    Flushing Meadows.” The Poppenhusen Library is located
    at 121-23 14th Avenue in College Point.

    On Saturday, January 17 at 2 p.m., “Spanish Music
    from Spain & Beyond” will take place at the Flushing Library.
    The performance will feature pianist Jeremy Rafal and
    guest soprano Katrina Saporsantos.

    “An Evening of Music with Mark Belitsky, Russian Bard & Songwriter” will take place at the Rego Park Library at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 21. Belitsky is a poet and folk singer. Originally born in Leningrad, he moved to the United States in 1975. The Rego Park Library is located at 91-41 63rd Drive and can be reached at 718-459-5140.

    The Astoria Music Society will present a performance of the Cerulean String Quartet at the Flushing Library at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 24. The members of the quartet are violist Sayuri Lyons, violinist Sarah Badavas,
    cellist James Mark Pedersen and violinist Claire Smith.

    On Saturday, January 31, the Ebony String Quartet will perform at the Langston Hughes Library at 2 p.m. The concert will feature classical music and chamber music for strings.     “Discover Fever! With The Trammps & Tavares” will take place at 8 p.m. on Saturday, January 31. Some of the disco hits that will be performed during the concert are “That’s Where the Happy People Go,” “Disco Inferno,” and “Heaven,” among many others. Tickets are $40 and $35.

    The exhibition “Metro Poles, Art in Action” will be on display though January 17. The exhibit is a collaboration between JCAL, the Bronx River Art Center, the Asian American Arts Center and Maiden Lane Exhibition Space. A group of artists created work in the galleries and later a second group of artists was invited to expand “upon the original artist’s momentum through addition, subtraction, inversion or re-position.”

    “Neil Berg’s 100 Years of Broadway” will take place on Wednesday, January 7 at 2 p.m.; Thursday, January 8 at 2 p.m.; Friday, January 9 at 8 p.m.; Saturday, January 10 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.; and Sunday, January 11 at 3 p.m. Tickets for weekday shows are $30 or $28 for seniors and $20 for students.
    For Saturday and Sunday performances, the tickets cost $35 or $33 for seniors and $20 for students.

    “Manhattan Vibes with Evi Siamanda” will take place at 8 p.m. Thursday, January 22. The “jazz-funk trio presents an entertaining, explosive mix of world music.” They will be joined by Evi Siamanda, a Greek cabaret performer, who will assist with a tribute to composer Mimis Plessas. Tickets cost $35 or $20 for students and $33 for seniors.

    International Guitar Night will be held at 8 p.m. on
    Saturday, January 31. The evening will feature Brian Gore, Pierre Bensusan, Benjamin Verdery, and Cecilia Zabala. Tickets
    cost $35 or $33 for seniors and $20 for students.
