JAMAICA — A 20−year−old Ozone Park man was arrested after he allegedly attacked a guidance counselor at a Jamaica high school, the Queens district attorney said.
Lawrence Sapp, of 102−02 97th Ave. in Ozone Park, was arraigned Jan. 7 before Queens Criminal Court Judge Suzanne Melendez on charges of assault, harassment and resisting arrest, Queens DA Richard Brown said. The defendant, released on his own recognizance, was scheduled to return to court Jan. 22, the DA said.
According to the criminal complaint, the defendant head−butted and kicked a 59−year−old guidance counselor at Jamaica’s Career Development High School on Linden Boulevard. The victim suffered a laceration to his forehead and bruising to his right eye, the DA said.
The defendant then allegedly kicked and punched a school safety agent who told him to calm down and then attempted to restrain him, the DA said. The agent suffered substantial pain to his stomach and knees and was treated at a local hospital, Brown said.
Sapp then allegedly flailed his arms, kicked his legs and attempted to bite other school safety agents as they attempted to handcuff him, the DA said.
