MTA must keep weekend trains on LIRR Port Washington line

In order to close projected budget gaps, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority has proposed a number of actions, including reducing weekday off−peak and weekend service on the Port Washington branch from half−hourly to hourly.

As someone who often travels into Manhattan on the weekend, I do not understand this proposal, since the trains always seem to have many passengers.

For those Bayside residents who use these off−peak trains and do not relish an hour−long wait for the next one, I suggest contacting the MTA through its Web site: www.mta.info.
