KEW GARDENS — A Brooklyn electrical contractor was forced to pay more than $1 million in back wages to workers involved in projects at locations, including Queens Hospital Center and the Queens Botanical Gardens, the Queens district attorney’s office said.
AARâ„Co Electric pleaded guilty to defrauding 10 employees Monday, the DA’s office said. The company will pay them amounts between $1,683 and $199,810, the DA said.
“Unscrupulous contractors cannot break the law by cheating workers out of their rightful wages, and cases like this show that we are vigilant in uncovering such conduct,” said city Comptroller William Thompson, whose office aided in the investigation.
