After packing Queens Theatre in the Park (QTIP) with more than 300 guests for its inaugural Rising Stars event, The Queens Courier hit a second homerun for the recently renovated cultural institution by donating $1,500 to the venue.
The donation came from raffles during the Rising Stars event in February, which honored some of the borough’s most successful businesspeople under 40.
“Doing these events gives me an opportunity to help the wonderful non-profit institutions in Queens,” said Queens Courier publisher Victoria Schneps-Yunis. “I love the theatre, and I think that it is great that Queens Theatre in the Park Executive Director Jeff Rosenstock has reached out to the multitude of different cultures in terms of designing programming to bring groups to the theatre.”
During the February event, honorees, their families, friends and business leaders networked in the beautiful, recently renovated space at QTIP before receiving their awards on the theatre’s main stage.
Rosenstock said that the Rising Stars event was a perfect one for QTIP to host because it brought the future leaders of Queens to his venue – many of whom had their first opportunity to spend time there.
He said he views QTIP as an oasis inside Flushing Meadows-Corona Park and the organizations hopes to capitalize on the renovations – and he even has a few surprises that lie ahead.
“I think the renovations are going to herald a new era for us,” Rosenstock said. “We are going to come out with new programs very soon.”
