For the kids in one Queens neighborhood, the real baseball season got underway recently, with the Opening Day parade and ceremonies of the College Point Little League.
Among the dignitaries marching up College Point Boulevard to McNeil Park on Saturday, April 25, was State Senator Frank Padavan, shown here with some eager young athletes.
Padavan is a big supporter of youth sports; he sponsors teams in the Bayside, Jamaica Estates-Holliswood and Glen Oaks Little Leagues, as well as a team in the Hollis-Bellaire-Queens Village-Bellerose Athletic Association.
The College Point league’s “Pitch, Hit and Run event,” which was rained out at Harvey Park, is rescheduled for Sunday, May 3 from 1 to 4 p.m. at McNeil Park. Don’t miss it.
