With all the budget cuts being talked about, how could the city Department of Education consider cutting teaching positions? The possibility of losing 2,000 jobs if the stimulus money is not as large as it should be is disturbing.
Education is one area that, despite the fact that the country is in a deep recession, must not be cut. Teachers are needed in classrooms all across America. Cutting them and other personnel in the field of education must not be accepted by parents in this country.
Education should receive the maximum amount for funding from the federal stimulus.
