In the race for City Comptroller, the Queens County Democratic Party endorsed Queens City Councilmember John Liu for the position over current Queens Councilmembers David Weprin and Melinda Katz and Brooklyn Councilmember David Yassky. The party endorsed Liu by an overwhelming majority with 49 voting for Liu, six for Weprin and three for Katz.
In the race for Mayor, incumbent Michael Bloomberg landed an endorsement from Democratic Long Island Congressmember Carolyn McCarthy. McCarthy cited Bloomberg’s bold actions on illegal guns and gun trafficking as two key reasons for her endorsement. “I proudly support his bid for re-election and I look forward to continuing to work with him to keep illegal guns off of our streets and out of our schools,” McCarthy said.
In the race for the District 26 City Council seat, the United Auto Workers announced their endorsement of Jimmy Van Bramer. The United Auto Workers represent more than 20,000 employees in the New York City area.
In the race for Mayor, the Queens County Democratic Party endorsed City Comptroller William C. Thompson.
In the race for Public Advocate, the Queens County Democratic Party endorsed City Councilmember Eric Gioia.
