QUEENS VILLAGE — Larry Hogue, a man who terrorized the Upper West Side of Manhattan in the 1990s, was picked up on his old stomping grounds by police last week after he walked away from the Creedmoor Psychiatric Center, authorities said.
Police said Hogue, who has been a patient at Creedmoor for nearly a decade, walked off the grounds of the facility some time after 11 a.m. last Thursday. Police said they found Hogue on the Upper West Side early Saturday morning and returned him to Creedmoor without incident.
Hogue became infamous in the 1990s for wreaking havoc on the Manhattan neighborhood, setting cars on fire and routinely mugging people to support a drug habit. After several arrests, he was eventually confined to Creedmoor, where he has lived since.
