WOODSIDE — A Woodside man allegedly burglarized a store and tried to pass himself off as a customer locked in overnight when an employee walked in on him, the Queens district attorney’s office said.
Jay Arungah, 26, allegedly broke into the cash transfer store on Roosevelt Avenue sometime after 10 p.m. June 4., according to a criminal complaint filed by the DA’s office. At 9 a.m. the next day, an employee walked in and asked him what he was doing there, the DA’s office said.
“You locked me in last night,” he allegedly told the employee, and walked out. The employee then noticed $23,000 was missing, the DA’s office said.
Arungah was charged with burglary and grand larceny. He was arraigned July 11 and held in lieu of $7,500 bail. His next court date is July 24.
