BAYSIDE — Criminals escaped with nearly $70,000 in two separate incidents Saturday, police said.
Around 8 p.m., two black men entered a store on Crocheron Avenue near 193rd Street, punched an employee in the head and brandished small, black revolvers, police in the 111th Precinct said. The suspects tied up the victim and took his wallet with $80 in it and the company safe, which contained $30,000, police said.
The other incident occurred between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at a home near 29th Avenue and 200th Street. Burglars broke through a basement door and broke into two safes containing $38,000 in jewelry, police said. No arrests had been made by Tuesday evening.
