Cops shoot, kill, armed teen

101st PRECINCT

Police shot 18-year-old Dashawn Vasconcellos on Saturday, November 21 after cops say he pulled a gun on them.
The fatal incident began when four plainclothes officers in an unmarked vehicle observed three males exiting Bays Water Park after-hours.
As the officers exited their vehicle to question the three as to why they were in the park after hours, Vasconcellos allegedly fled the scene on foot with one of the officers in close pursuit.
Another officer detained the remaining two males at the scene of the stop, while two other officers drove their vehicle in the direction of the foot pursuit as back-up.
On Bay 32nd Street between Far Rockaway Boulevard and Beach Channel Drive, Vasconcellos turned with a loaded 9mm semiautomatic pistol in his hand and pointed it in the direction of the officers.
Cops say that despite repeated orders for him to drop the weapon, the suspect refused and was shot in the torso and legs, reportedly 11 times.
He was taken to Jamaica Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
A defaced, loaded Bryco semi-automatic 9mm was recovered at the scene police say.
