HELP US HELP SANTA

When you head out holiday shopping, we ask to you, our readers and advertisers, to help us help Santa and brighten the holidays for some very special Queens children.
The Queens Courier wants to fill the holiday gift list of the children who will be spending their holidays in Schneider’s Children’s Hospital. The majority of the patients in the 154-bed facility are infants to three-year-olds and teenagers. They are receiving treatment for everything from childhood diseases to cancer and epilepsy.
Please purchase a toy or article of clothing from the hospital’s suggested gift list including baby blankets, clothes, socks and hats, toys (especially with lights, sound and colors); baby dolls and new tagged stuffed animals.
Items for the older youths include DVD movies; iTunes gift cards; art kits; remote control cars; computer games; board games; Play Dough; Matchbox/Hot Wheels cars and Little Tikes/Fisher Price items. See the complete gift list at qns.com.
In addition to helping the young patients at Schneider’s, we have also “adopted” the whole Carpio family of Whitestone. The Carpio sextuplets will be spending their first Christmas at home this year and we want to help the family make it a very special one.
The 14-month-olds’ gift list includes Johnson and Johnson shampoos and creams; clothing for age 24-months (four boys and two girls); shoes size four with socks; Pampers baby wipes; Pampers diapers size four and toys for 18 months and up. Their brother, Jahncarlos, 9, is wishing for a bucket with sea life from Toys R’ Us; a mammoth book; a Nintendo DS; Transformer toys and Yankee tickets.
Mom and Dad have their wishes too, including a day at a spa; aromatic candles, dinner at Applebees or Olive Garden and volunteers to help with the kids. See the complete Carpio family wish list at qns.com. We hope that you will open your wallets and your hearts this holiday season and bring your unwrapped gifts to The Queens Courier’s offices at 38-15 Bell Boulevard, Monday thru Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. All gifts must be in by Tuesday, December 15 at 5 p.m. and will be delivered by our staff. If you have questions, call 718-224-5863, Ext. 221 and ask for “Santa Pete.”
