Councilmember Julissa Ferreras held her first annual Three Kings Day event, which was co-sponsored by The Children’s Aid Society and New York Life on January 6 in her district office.
Representatives from New York Life were on hand to provide child safety identification cards to the children in attendance. The cards featured the child’s picture, identifying information and fingerprints. The cards, which are useful for the police in the event that the child goes missing, were provided free of charge.
“Children are a precious commodity, and should be protected in any way possible. Along with Amber alerts, these identification cards can assist law enforcement agencies in finding and returning children to their homes safe and sound,” said Ferreras.
The New York Life representatives spoke with parents about the UPromise program that helps families save and pay for college.
“We greatly appreciate the opportunity from Councilmember Ferreras to come and share our services, both financial and safety, with the community,” said Rogelio Martinez, a New York Life Agent.
Each child also received a toy and a book that were graciously donated by The Children’s Aid Society.
