Kevin Avalos, 19, of the Pomonok Houses in Fresh Meadows and Nolan Lopez, 20, of Jackson Heights began chasing the other man around 4 p.m. March 6 at the intersection of 82nd Street and 37th Avenue, the DA said.
After Avalos and Lopez were spotted, an eyewitness saw Avalos toss his knife under a parked car, where police later retrieved it, the DA said.
Avalos and Lopez were both charged with menacing and weapon possession, the DA said. They were released on their own recognizance and ordered to return to court April 12.
