The Queens Courier wins NYPA awards

The Queens Courier, celebrating 25 years, is continuing its tradition of serving the community with award-winning articles and advertisements.

At the 2009 New York Press Association Better Newspaper Contest awards, The Queens Courier took First Place awards for Classified Advertising, Best Special Section Cover and Best Citizen Involvement, which “demonstrates excellence in getting the community involved” and “includes blogs, forums, photo sharing and interaction with the newspaper.”

Additionally, the paper took Second Place for Best Editorial Pages, Advertising Excellence, Best Large Space Ad and News Story, for our coverage of Woodhaven resident Jorge Munoz, one of the 10 finalists for the annual CNN Heroes award.

“I’m proud that our talented, dedicated, hard-working staff received recognition for their excellence,” said Queens Courier publisher Victoria Schneps-Yunis. “We look forward to 25 more years of serving the Queens community.” – Tonia N. Cimino
