ASTORIA — A suspected bank robber was arrested last week, less than an hour after he allegedly stole cash from a Capitol One branch, police said.
Robert Umland, 42, allegedly held up the bank at 31-17 Broadway April 6 around 9:30 a.m., according to investigators. He passed a note to a teller demanding money and after the teller complied, the robber allegedly fled with an undisclosed amount of cash with a hidden dye-pack, police said.
Roughly 45 minutes later, officers observed Umland with the cash and placed him under arrest, according to police.
