LAURELTON — A former police officer sent other agents on a wild chase on the street of southeast Queens two weeks ago, the Queens district attorney said.
Andre W. Colclough, 35, of Nassau County, was charged April 3 with several counts including assault, reckless endangerment and resisting arrest, DA Brown said.
Colclough, who was fired from the NYPD, first came to the attention of the authorities when he was spotted driving a motorcycle at the intersection of Merrick and Brookville boulevards with a defective brake light and an NYPD riot gear helmet March 31, the criminal complaint said.
He allegedly told the officer he was an NYPD officer, but failed to produce an identification card and admitted he was fired, according to the complaint. While he was being placed in handcuffs, Colclough began kicking his legs and flailing his arms and eventually fled on foot across the Belt Parkway, the DA said.
Several cars swerved out of the way to avoid hitting the suspect, the criminal complaint said.
It took 10 officers to finally restrain Colclough, according to the DA.
