Jamaica father killed by drunk driver on Whitestone Expressway: Police

By Nathan Duke

The owner of a Manhattan furniture company has been arrested after he allegedly drove drunk Wednesday, striking and killing a Bangladeshi security guard from Jamaica as he crossed the Whitestone Expressway.

Hundreds of people attended a memorial service Friday for security guard Mohammad Rohman, 45, at the Jamaica Muslim Center on 168th Street.

Rohman’s family said they were outraged that Manhattan’s Harley Greenfield, 65, who is chief executive officer for Jennifer Convertibles furniture company, had only been charged with drunk driving, which is punishable by a fine.

“I keep thinking of all the good memories I have of my father,” said Marjana Rohman, 12, the security guard’s oldest daughter. “I wish this never happened, that I could have my father here today.”

Rohman had been killed while crossing the Whitestone Expressway around 10:45 p.m. on April 14, police said.
