JAMAICA — A Jamaica man was sentenced to 15 days in jail or a $150 fine for swallowing a marijuana cigarette after a police officer saw him smoking in a public place, the Queens district attorney said Tuesday.
Allahsupre Chambers, 29, was charged with tampering with physical evidence, according to the DA.
Police reported Chambers was smoking the marijuana cigarette around 6:30 p.m. in front of 134-44 161st St. May 11 in Jamaica when he was seen by the officer, the DA said.
Chambers explained he swallowed the cigarette because he “didn’t want to get in trouble,” the DA said.
