Energy savings in Glendale

If you’re a small business owner looking to save money, National Grid and Con Edison may have a plan for you.

Working with State Senator Joseph Addabbo as part of his “Energy Conservation Campaign,” the two energy companies hope to engage several small businesses and residents in cost saving programs.

“By helping small businesses access great programs already provided by Con Edison and National Grid we are lowering energy costs and helping our small business community grow,” Addabbo said. “These are amazing programs that offer small businesses real savings. Each dollar they save can go toward creating more jobs and improving their business.”

More than two dozen business owners attended a meeting organized by Addabbo and Assemblymember Michael Miller on May 13 in Glendale where they were able to learn from representatives from both companies about their energy saving programs.

Con Edison’s “The Power of Green-Save Money, Save Energy, and Help the Environment Program” offers free energy surveys and free energy conservation measures.

“Small businesses are the backbone of our city, and Con Edison wants to help them save money using less energy, while maintaining the same level of lighting, cooling and heating they need for their customers,” said Esteban Vasquez, manager of Energy Efficiency at Con Edison.

National Grid’s “Three Percent Less,” campaign offers several energy reducing plans to help cut costs by using cleaner fuel and updating heating equipment, which can help businesses improve efficiency by 30 percent.

Kenneth Camilleri, National Grid Energy Efficiency Program manager, said that the company hopes to reduce its carbon footprint 80 percent by 2050.

“National Grid is focused on helping customers reduce CO2 and the use of natural gas through promoting development and deployment of efficient technologies,” he said.
