Teen resists arrest after stealing cell phone: DA

CAMBRIA HEIGHTS — A 16-year-old from Cambria Heights was arrested after he allegedly stole a cellular phone and then resisted arrest, the Queens district attorney said.

Rashaun Baddal, of 224-14 Linden Blvd. in Cambria Heights, was arraigned earlier this month in front of Queens Criminal Court Judge Deborah Stevens Modica on charges of grand larceny, tampering with a witness, criminal possession of stolen property and resisting arrest, Queens DA Richard Brown said.

The defendant, who was held on $15,000 bail, will return to court May 17, the DA said.

On May 2, Baddal is alleged to have taken a Samsung cell phone out of another person’s backpack and fled, Brown said. The defendant allegedly attempted to pull away from arresting officers, the DA said.
