Two arrested in cabbie robberies

It seems as if cabbies can breathe a sigh of relief following the arrests of two men allegedly tied to six armed hold-ups.

On Thursday, May 20, officers from the NYPD Taxi Unit, part of a Central Robbery Division team, arrested the two perps in connection with six armed robberies of yellow cab drivers in the 102nd, 105th, and 106th Precincts.

After identifying a vehicle matching the description of one used in a prior taxi-driver robbery, the officers performed a vehicle stop. A disabled gun was discovered inside the car and the two individuals inside were arrested.

While Rishie Adaia, 16, and Imran Ally, 18, were being taken into custody, a report of an armed robbery in the area was broadcast over the police radio. Both suspects were positively identified as the perpetrators involved in the commission of the robbery. Evidence was also recovered from one of the suspects after an investigation.

They have been charged with multiple counts of robbery in the first degree.
