Perfect Day for a Perfect Game
Glen Oaks Brewers hurler Rishi Durjan found himself in the perfect mood to pitch one sunny afternoon. The 14-year-old lefty tossed a nine-strikeout, 60-pitch perfect game in his team’s 10-0 victory in the College Point Little League on Saturday, May 22. Durjan dominated, but had plenty of help from his team’s stellar defense. His infield of Freddy Estavez, Eddie Campana Jr., Andrew Dornfest and Jonathan Torres played amazingly, as did his outfield of Adam Salih, Daniel Medina and Sam Calores. Of course, this feat would not have been possible without the outstanding play of catcher Jonathan Berzon. The team’s coach also credited his bench core of Joseph Chan, Devin Gugliemetti and Peter Consentino.
Bayside’s Day with the Pros
The Bayside Little League took a break from baseball to hang out on a real field of dreams. The league got the chance to parade around Citi Field as the special guests of the New York Mets on Sunday, June 6. Teams were treated to a full day of special activities, including a stirring, come-from-behind victory for the Mets. “They really enjoyed the day,” said Steven Perez, coach of Three of Cups. “The players watched their hometown team make the same plays that they have to make in their own games.”
