Celebrity chef coming to Valentino’s

Valentino’s on the Green is bringing upscale exquisite cuisine to Queens, thanks to Executive Chef James “Jimmy” Canora.

Canora is internationally-renowned as a celebrity chef and cookbook author who has traveled the world to expand his appreciation for food and culture.  He brings a wealth of enthusiasm and creativity to his craft, while maintaining culinary integrity and flavor.

He started his culinary career at age 12, working at the family-owned supermarket and catering business in Ozone Park. He worked as an intern for Robert De Niro’s famed restaurant, Tribeca Grill,  where he worked his way up the from intern to the Executive Sous Chef.  He was project manager on The Tribeca Grill Cookbook and The Shared Table, and helped produce The Food Network’s “My Country, My Kitchen” with Chef Don Pintabona.

In 2003, Canora became a member of Continental Airlines “Congress of Chefs,” where he now serves as Celebrity Chef for New York Cit.   It was this role that landed Canora a spot as a guest judge on Bravo’s Top Chef season three episode, “Snacks on a Plane.”

Canora also started NYC Culinary Events, which has become a nationally-recognized food consulting and catering firm working with The Masters golf tournament, The Ryder Cup, The Breeders Cup, and U.S. Open tennis.

In 2007, Canora brought his talents to The Original Delmonico’s Restaurant, where he served as Corporate Consulting Chef. He authored the cookbook, Dining at Delmonico’s: The Story of America’s Oldest Restaurant, which won a Gourmand World Cookbook Award as the 2009 Best in The World for the U.S.A.

When not in the kitchen or penning books, Canora donates much of his free time to charities such as The James Beard Foundation, The Taste of the NFL, The National Foundation for the Advancements of the Arts, Share our Strength, and his favorite, Lifebeat: The Music Industry Fights AIDS.

He has been featured in The Washington Post, Global Traveler and several cookbooks such as Patti LaBelle’s latest, Recipes for the Good Life. In keeping with his celebrity status, Canora has made appearances on “Good Morning Australia,” “Top Chef,” NBC’s “Today Show,” FOX Five’s Morning Show, and “The Early Show” on CBS.
